In 1983 the Chapter was off and running with 15 members. One of the first community service projects was a Christmas Party for the children of the Frederick Douglas Head Start School in Littlerock, CA. Contributions were made to the Jackie Robinson Park Advisory Council. In addition, the Lancaster Alumnae Chapter held the first Easter Egg Program at Jackie Robinson Park. There were about 50 children at the program. In 2007, this program gave away goodies to about 500 children. In January 1984 we honored Dr. Martin Luther Kings birthday with a program at Soror Holmes home. In February 1984, Soror Betty Hall was the guest speaker at the Sun Village Chamber of Commerce Black History Program.
May 1984, Jessie Carroll received the "Women Helping Women" award for her contributions to the Sun Village and Littlerock communities. Our Lancaster (CA) Alumnae Chapter placed a bronze plaque on the outside of the new community room at Jackie Robinson Park to honor Mrs. Carroll's contribution in the community
